Becoming a Big Player

Message: Becoming a Big Player
Text: Gen 25:29-32

As a big player, you attract
a.) Money
b.) Fame
c.) power

God wants us to have power so that we can protect the powerless (i.e the opressed as shepherds).

Take for example, the man who wrote the book " purpose driven life", Rick Warren. Rick Warren wasnt exactly out to make as much money as he is making right now but his focus was on enabling others live a purpose driven life. As he improved others, he attracted other benefits to himself. Right now, he makes so much money that he probably doesnt even know what to do with it. He supports the AIDs Initiatives and guess what, because he supports that programme, he attracts others to do the same because success attracts others to your purpose.

God gives us money to
a.) support the poor
b.) support the gospel.
All other things shall be added to those who do this.

The Millionaire is not the one who has the millions but the one who can give out in millions. When you find yourself working anywhere. God actually wants you to own that place so you have to reorganize your goals towards owning that place. Towards being a big player along that field.
Hosea 4: 6 says my people perish for lack of knowledge. You need to think outside the box to get a clear picture.

Why do God's People Suffer?

1.) Because they are not aware of what God's word says about them
2.) They do not believe it enough to act on it

Anytime you dont know what God's word says about a situation and that situationturns bad for you, it means that you are paying for your ignorance.

Paying the tailor to mend your dress is paying for your ignorance (not knowing how to mend it yourself)
Paying a mechanic to fix your car is paying for your ignorance (not knowing how to fix it yourself)

What we are is a fuction of what we know and what we become is a function of what we dont know

To you as a person, another man's revelation is nothing but a n explanation. why because it is unique to that person and you can view it with as much intensity as the owner. Now, every christian ought to believe and hold on to whatever the word of God says about them

How to believe the word of God is by MEDITATION. The bible says that as a man thinketh in his heart so is he. So you need to believe the word and consistenetly confess it.

Negotiation and Selflessness

We have 2 different kinds of people
1. The Investor (Manufacturer, Producer)
2. The Consumer

A lot of peopl tend to fall under the category of the Consumer and at every point in life, everyone has got to make a decison by negotiation.

Get up when you hear your alarm or you turn it off and go back to bed
To eat or not to eatTo settle down to a movie or read your bible
To tell a lie or say the truth and the list goes on

Its is very important to learn to be a producer. But then growth is not automatic, at everypoint in life, you have to loose something to gain another. But remember, when you buy the present, you have sold the future. take for example, you have a plot of land worth 1 million naira, you decide to sell it. In 10 years time, that same plot could sell for 10million naira or more.

Be Selfless
The root of all human problems is "Selfishness".Lets take the coconut for example, it has to be planted as a whole before it can bear fruit. The complete coconut has been sacrificed for more (more coconuts)

We need to be more focussed on other people than ourselves. European Countries are focussed on solving the problems of the Africans thats why the get to be at the Head (ahead).

Bill Gates never planned to be the richest man, all he wanted to do was solve human problems and he somehow found himself at the head ( the richest).

Always render selfless service, it is one of the greatest characteristics of a great leader. Pray to God to kill that virus within you called selfishness.
A sign of spiritual maturity is when you do what you dont feel like doing even when you dont feel like doing it.

Message: Decoding Divine Signals 1 & 11

Texts:
Isaiah 48: 17 : Thus saith the LORD, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the LORD thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.

Jeremiah 29:11: For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the ORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

Exodus 13: 17-18: (17)And it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God led them not through the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, Lest peradventure the people repent when they see war, and they return to Egypt:
(18)But God led the people about, through the way of the wilderness of the Red sea: and the children of Israel went up harnessed out of the land of Egypt.

When we talk about decoding divine signals, we are talking about interpreting how God is speaking to us and directing us. Every believer should live their life according to God's plan.

Take for example the traffic light system, it is positioned at a road intersection, pedestrain crossing, or other location in order to indicate which specific sequence and time to drive, ride or walk. Thats just similar to the way the bible is, the words in it should be positioned in our hearts to direct and lead us on the specific sequence and time to take every step.

Jeremiah 1: 4 talks about the fact that before God formed us in our mother's womb, he knew us and he had a plan for us.

Every believer should ensure that their plans conform to God's plan. As a believer, all things work together for your good because

You love God
You are called according to his purpose

God is only committed to what he commands. When we read 2 Chronicles 26, we see that as long as Uzziah sought the Lord, God gave him victory against the Philistines. Verse 4 says that he did everything that was right in the sight of the Lord and Verse 5 says that as long as he sought the Lord, God made him prosper. Verse 8 says that his name spread abroad.

When we read verse 16, the bible tells us that when Uzziah was strong, his heart was lifted up to his destruction: for he transgressed against the LORD his God, and went into the temple of the LORD to burn incense upon the altar of incense. The moment he turned away from God he became leprous and he died a leper.

We as believers need to stick to the right friends. Uzziah stuck to Zechariah who instructed him in the fear of thee Lord but when Zechariah died, Uzziah moved to Idolatry.

The bible says that the sheep know the voice of their master. How can we learn to decode divine signals

1. Read the Word (Your bible)

2. Meditate upon the Word

3. Confess the Word

4. Give thanks to the person who spoke the word

5. Expect results

6. Yield to the Lord.

The bible says that as many as are lead by God are the sons of God

Hi all,

You're welcome to my blog. Decoding Divine Signals is a blog i created to enable people have an insight to what God has been revealing to me through his word. The interesting thing is that 2 people can read the same passage in the Bible and have 2 different revelations about it.

This Blog will contain several messages i have listened to in church, through Cds and also my personal devotion. It is my prayer that not only will this blog bless you but you will affect others with it. Like i said its a mutual blog so your comments are highly appreciated
